Posts: 1 Jul 21 11 2:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : tourettes, adult, loud noises, bright lights Hi, my name is Morgan, I'm 19 years old, I just started developing tics like my head jerking to one side, my neck muscles tensing up, uncontrolled breathing, clicking noises with my mouth, blowing softly with my mouth, and hand shaking. So far neither my primary doctor nor neurologist have officially diagnosed me with Tourette's but they are both saying things like "most likely" and putting me on medicine that "suppresses the tics", right now I'm on clonodine and it seems to have a little control over them. I had one episode of twitching when I was 18 while I had pneumonia , but that only lasted 2 days. Now it has been going on for about a month and I have a feeling it probably wont go away on its own this time. I was just wondering if anyone with a diagnosis of Tourette's experiences sensitivity to loud or annoying noises and bright lights. Ever since the tics started I have had trouble with this. Dogs barking or baby's crying, sometimes the sound of certain peoples voices will severely irritate me and thus cause me to tic intensely. Also, I have noticed the sun irritates me way more than it ever has, I need to wear sunglasses most of the time, and bright lights like LED's or the flashing of a camera almost seem to "stun" me and cause me to tic as well. Does anyone know if this is common with Tourette's, if so is there a name for it?

Posts: 1 Mar 27 12 6:11 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi Morgan, I have a son who is 13, he was diagnosed with tourettes in 2010. he had signs when he was very young and one of his where the sensitivity to loud noises, and still he is very sensitive to loud noises. As to wheather or not there is a name for it, I don't know I have not heard of one but that does not mean to say there isn't one. Sensitivites do vary with people who have mild , moderate, severe tics. My son has severe tics and there are a hand full of tics that have been with him since i can remeber, then he has tics that often change. Good luck, I hope I have been of some help.
