For the reasons mentioned above, not only would I not allow my children to participate in a TS message board, I won't be part of anything which puts children in contact with others on the internet. There is too much craziness out there, and I am particularly troubled by the number of message board owners who set up children's forums, and then don't even monitor them. I, as an adult with eyes wide open, have been duped in my years on the internet -- how is a child supposed to sort out the kooks from the real folks? Those people who set up these forums should be strung up by their toes. We try to keep a keen lookout for children posting here, and make sure their condfidentiality is protected and their naivete is not exploited. I always suggest that adults get to know each other well here, and then, if you want your children to correspond, even though you may THINK you know the person at the other end, ALWAYS supervise that correspondence.

Besides that we often find that the last thing kids with tics want to do is to talk about their tics -- once the novelty wears off.
