Not getting any easier with age

I often wonder of others afflicted. TS has doubtless been my ugly companion all my life. As long as I can remember a variety of manifestations evidenced themselves over the years almost exclusively facial tics of one form or another. The tics migrated from one to another but they were always there and it's always been a constant struggle to suppress them; hiding them has always been unacheivable. Hi I'm fairly new to this forum and very new to TS. Our son hasn't been diagnosed yet and we seem to be going around in circles at the moment. Anyway, I was wondering if there was anyone else from Australia on this forum and possibly from QLD Fraser Coast area. I'd love to be able to chat to someone else who knows a bit more about this condition and how it's viewed over here. I know that it's not seen as a disability so the schools don't get funding for children...

Getting a diagosis

Until about 3 days ago our DS didn't seem aware of his tics and then overnight this changed. He developed a new tic which involved scrunching his right eye and a sort of squint/frown/grimace type action which he does every few seconds. My name is Ryann (pronounced like Ryan... I guess my parents wanted a boy, LOL!), I live in MD. I have two daughter, the one who has Tourettes is 7 years old (then I have a 4 year old who stutters). I myself have a mild tic disorder (not tourettes) and mild stuttering... both of those thing run in my family, so I'm very familiar with it all. Plus my husband has Epilespy (it's controlled with medication).
While mild tic disorders, stuttering and OCD all run in my family... no one...

My son was dx in the past year but was really struggling long before that, so far the official dx is TS+, adhd, PDD-NOS, anxiety disorder, odc tendencies and tons of sensory issues. He has low muscle tone and a very limited diet (about 6 foods he will eat), agression and developmental delays. I quit my job about a year and a half ago, as daycare was not something he could handle all day and now my life revolves around helping him and raising my younger son as well (he does not have TS)...

Hi, my name is Amy and my 3 year old son has Tourettes. My 7 year old daughter also shows some signs, but to a much lesser degree. I'm still pretty new to this, but I think we will come through it just fine. Both of them are bright and wonderful, just a little different. I worry about how it might progress, especially in my son. Hi. I've lived with TS since I was six years old. I'm nearly 40 so back then it took forever for the doctors to figure out what it was. Since my kids were born, I've been watching them closely and my son started showing signs at age 3. His tics have been extremely mild so far, but he's approaching age six and about to start kindergarten. I'm wondering if this is the year that the tics get more intense. I am the grandmother of a 13 yr. old boy who was diagnosed with TS when he was 6. he's been struggling in school since that time and i've tried to get my daughter to allow me to homeschool him over the years, but i live in another state and he was just too young. Hello:) I have a nine year old son and he has Tourettes, OCD and ADHD. We have tried Risperdal, Seroquel, Prozac, Strattera and Concerta. All havent worked. Now he is on Ritallin, well its only been 24 hours. We will see if this one works. He has tics and is overly active and sometimes agressive. Yep, the whole wonderful package.
